Akçay 3D SCADA: Live Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Demo

Pumps, filters, aeration, digesters and biogas — two treatment lines on one screen, in the browser

Location

Fictional plant · Akçay, Türkiye

Year

2026

Scope

3D modelling (Blender) · Real-time web interface · Process simulation (filtration, activated sludge, digestion) · Alarm and interlock logic · Live P&ID · Mobile and touch support · TR/EN localisation

01 · The challenge

Operators of water and wastewater plants usually follow dozens of pumps, blowers, filters and basins on flat diagrams and tables. Where a filter actually is, how rain drives up the inflow, or how a blower trip pulls down the oxygen in a basin is hard to see at a glance. Explaining the plant to a municipality, a new operator or a visitor is just as hard: the processes stay hidden inside basins and behind building walls.

02 · Our solution

3DSCADA turns the drinking water line, the wastewater line and the sludge and energy units into a live 3D model that runs in the browser. Pumps, screw pumps, blowers, clarifier bridges, digesters and buildings were modelled in Blender; in the Three.js scene the bridges turn, the screws run, the aeration basins bubble and light particles in the pipes show the flow. From the same screen the operator switches equipment between auto and manual, starts a filter backwash, sets oxygen and chlorine setpoints, opens up buildings and follows the whole line on a live P&ID. A live weather simulation drives inflow, raw water turbidity, nitrification, lighting and the cameras, and a 25-step interactive tour teaches the panel hands-on.

What the demo shows

Akçay is a fictional plant: a 65,000 m³/day drinking water line (river intake, coagulation, flocculation, settling, 8 rapid sand filters, chlorination, clear water tank and water tower), a 60,000 m³/day wastewater line (screens, screw pumps, grit removal, primary settling, activated sludge, secondary settling, UV disinfection) and sludge digestion with 2 × 350 kWe biogas CHP. All measurements, alarms, costs and camera events are simulated — nothing is connected to a real plant.

Taking it to a real plant

  • PLC and field data can come from OPC UA, Modbus TCP or S7 sources through an MQTT/WebSocket bridge.
  • Laboratory and discharge results, energy meters and chemical stocks can feed the same panel.
  • Models are GLB files, so the same scene can move to game engines such as Godot.

Model protection

The 3D models are delivered compressed and encrypted and are only decoded in browser memory. There is no model file on the page to download.

Features

Key capabilities

  • Drinking water line: intake, coagulation, settling, 8 sand filters, chlorination, clear water tank and water tower
  • Wastewater line: screens, screw pumps, grit removal, primary and secondary settling, activated sludge and UV
  • Sludge digestion, gas holder, 2 × 350 kWe CHP and flare, with live energy self-sufficiency
  • Live P&ID, basin level gauges, interlocked basin drain / fill, automatic backwash, DO and chlorine control
  • See-through pump, blower and dosing buildings to inspect equipment where it stands
  • Live weather: rain raises inflow and turbidity, frost slows nitrification, fog and night change the lighting
  • 8 security cameras with live feeds, PTZ, patrol sweeps, night IR and motion alarms
  • A panel tour and a wastewater process tour (sewer to river), an avatar to walk the plant, mobile support, TR/EN

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real treatment plant?

No. Akçay is a fictional plant and every value in the demo is simulated. The interface itself is built to be connected to a real plant's PLC/SCADA data.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The demo runs directly in any up-to-date browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari — and works with touch controls on phones and tablets.

How would it connect to live plant data?

PLC and field data is brought in over OPC UA, Modbus TCP or S7 through an MQTT/WebSocket bridge. Commands travel back the same way, with authorisation and confirmation steps.

Can you model my own plant?

Yes. Basins, buildings, pumps and piping are modelled in Blender for each project; a site plan and a P&ID are a good starting point.

Can the 3D models be downloaded?

No. The models are loaded compressed and encrypted and are only decoded in browser memory, so there is no model file on the page to download.
