Poyraz Tepe 3D SCADA: Live Wind Farm Monitoring Demo

26 turbines, a 154 kV switchyard, live weather and a hands-on tour — in the browser, no install

Location

Fictional site · Central Anatolia, Türkiye

Year

2026

Scope

3D modelling (Blender) · Real-time web interface · Electrical topology and interlocking · Simulation and alarm handling · Mobile and touch support · TR/EN localisation

01 · The challenge

Wind farm operators usually work with SCADA screens made of tables and flat line diagrams. Where a turbine actually stands, how the wind reaches it, or which turbines drop off the grid when a breaker opens is hard to see at a glance. Explaining the plant to an investor, a new operator or a visitor is just as hard: the site is remote, you can't step inside a nacelle, and the effect of the weather on output stays abstract.

02 · Our solution

3DSCADA turns the whole plant into a live 3D model that runs in the browser. The turbines, switchyard and buildings were modelled procedurally in Blender; the Three.js scene shows rotors turning at their real speed, nacelles yawing into the wind and energy flowing to the grid. From the same screen the operator starts turbines, sets power limits, opens a cut-away of the nacelle and switches breakers on the single-line diagram with full interlocking. A live weather simulation drives wind, icing, lighting and the cameras, and a 24-step interactive tour teaches the panel hands-on.

What the demo shows

Poyraz Tepe is a fictional wind farm: 26 turbines of 3 MW, three 34.5 kV collector feeders, two 50 MVA transformers and a switchyard connected to the grid by two 154 kV lines. All measurements, alarms, prices and camera events are simulated — nothing is connected to a real plant.

Taking it to a real site

  • Turbine and switchyard data can come from IEC 61850, OPC UA or Modbus sources through an MQTT/WebSocket bridge.
  • Market prices can be pulled from the EPİAŞ Transparency Platform.
  • Models are GLB files, so the same scene can move to game engines such as Godot.

Model protection

The 3D models are delivered compressed and encrypted and are only decoded in browser memory. There is no model file on the page to download.

Features

Key capabilities

  • Live status, power, rotor speed, pitch and yaw for all 26 turbines, with a wake-aware wind model
  • 154 kV switchyard with interlocked breaker and disconnector switching, distance protection and auto-reclose
  • Cut-away views of the nacelle, hub and tower with live temperatures and speeds on the labels
  • Live weather — rain, storm, snow and fog — including cut-out stops and blade icing
  • Day and night on the real sun path, solstice presets and photocell-driven lighting control
  • 8 security cameras with live feeds, PTZ, patrol sweeps, night IR and motion alarms
  • A 24-step interactive tour with highlighted controls, tasks and a Do it for me option
  • Touch interface for phones and tablets, an avatar to walk the site, Turkish and English

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real wind farm?

No. Poyraz Tepe is a fictional plant and every value in the demo is simulated. The interface itself is built to be connected to a real plant's SCADA data.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The demo runs directly in any up-to-date browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari — and works with touch controls on phones and tablets.

How would it connect to live site data?

Turbine and switchyard data is brought in from IEC 61850, OPC UA or Modbus sources through an MQTT/WebSocket bridge. Commands travel back the same way, with authorisation and confirmation steps.

Can you model my own wind farm?

Yes. Turbine type, layout, terrain, switchyard and buildings are modelled in Blender for each project; a site plan and a single-line diagram are enough to get started.

Can the 3D models be downloaded?

No. The models are loaded compressed and encrypted and are only decoded in browser memory, so there is no model file on the page to download.
